Hungary for 5 days/4 nights

 

Day 1    Budapest, Gödöllő, Eger

Leaving Budapest we drive you to Gödöllő and show you the Baroque Grassalkovich Palace named Sisi Castle because it was the favorite summer retreat of Queen Elisabeth (Sisi) Hapsburg. Driving forward you will enjoy the picturesque Mátra Mountains and the highest site of Hungary (Kékes). Arriving to Eger the sightseeing tour includes the visit of the historical monuments as the Minaret, Castle, Cathedral and you will have the option of visiting a wine cellar and tasting wines. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Eger.

Day 2    Eger, Mezőkövesd , Kecskemét

After breakfast you visit Mezőkövesd, the center of Matyo folk art famous of embroidery. In Kecskemét we will show you the Cifra Palace, Town Hall, Kodály Institute and the Calvinist Church. Dinner at a local Csárda restaurant with gipsy music. Overnight at a hotel in Kecskemét.

Day 3    Kecskemét, Pécs

Leaving Kecskemét we drive you  to Pécs, the cultural capital of Europe 2010. The walking tour in downtown Pécs includes the visit of Mosque (now catholic church), the Cathedral, the Turkish bastion and the old christian tombs with its wall paintings. You have the option to visit one of the numerous museums: Zsolnay chine factory and museum, the exhibition of sculptor Amerigo Tot, painters Vasarely and Csontváry. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Pécs.

Day 4    Pécs, Keszthely, Tihany

Crossing the hills of the South-Easter Hungary you reach Lake Balaton and visit the famous Festetics Palace of Keszthely. Enjoying the panorama ride beside the Balaton you will arrive to peninsula of Tihany where the Abbey founded in 1055  is located. After visiting the Abbey you may have a boat ride on the Balaton or you can just walk in the village and enjoy the spectacular view to the lake. Dinner and overnight in Balatonfüred.

Day 5   Balatonfüred, Pannonhalma, Budapest

Leaving the area of the Balaton you cross several towns worth for a stop like Veszprém, Zirc, Csesznek and you reach Pannonhalma where we visit the beautifully located Abbey. Heading back to Budapest you have the option to stop at Győr and visit its downtown. Arrival to Budapest in the late afternoon.

Accommodation in 3-star-hotel with half board in double rooms.
There is an extra charge if 1 person travels alone. There might be extra charge for special seasons (Christmas, Grand Prix race, etc).
