DAY 1. - Gödöllő, Eger

Trip to Gödöllő Castle, which used to be the favourite palace of Queen Elisabeth (Sisi). Driving through the picturesque Mátra Mountains and arriving to Eger, home of the famous Hungarian dry red wine, called Bull's blood. Walking tour in Eger (Cathedral, Lyceum, Main Square, Castle, Turkish bath and minaret, as Eger is the northernmost city in Europe, occupied by the Ottoman Turks). Optional wine-tasting at the "Valley of Beautiful Women" (over 50 wine cellars). Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Eger.

DAY 2. - Mezőkövesd, Kecskemét

Visiting Mezőkövesd, famous for its "Matyó" embroidery then travelling through the Hungarian Great Plain, called Puszta. Walking tour in Kecskemét (Town Hall, Cifra Palace, Kodály Institute and the former Synagogue). Dinner at a local Csárda restaurant with gipsy music. Overnight at a hotel in Kecskemét.

DAY 3. - Kalocsa, Pécs

Travelling to Kalocsa, home of the famous Hungarian paprika (red pepper) and visiting the Paprika Museum. Afterwards going to Pécs, the city which was the cultural capital of Europe in 2010. Walking tour in the historical centre (Early Christian burial tombs from the 4th century, the Cathedral, founded by the first Hungarian king, a former Mosque, currently used as Catholic Church). Optional visit to the Zsolnay Quarter (Exhibitions, Planetarium, Zsolnay Mausoleum). Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Pécs.

DAY 4. - Keszthely, Tihany, Balatonfüred

Crossing the hills of South-Eastern Hungary and reaching Lake Balaton, the largest fresh water lake in Central Europe. Interior visit of the Festetics Palace at Keszthely. Optional bathing at Lake Hévíz, this little unique lake is supplied by hot springs. Driving along the Lake Balaton and arriving to Tihany peninsula, visiting the Abbey. Walking along the promenade at Balatonfüred, where illustrious scientists and politicians planted trees. Dinner and overnight in Balatonfüred.

DAY 5. - Veszprém, Herend, Pannonhalma

Departure to Pannonhalma with a short stop at Veszprém (walking around the Castle district). Driving to Herend and visiting the Porcelain Minimanufactory and Museum. Arriving to Pannonhalma and interior visit of the Benedictine Archabbey, founded in 996. Driving back to Budapest.
